Concerts, workshops, exhibition, book promotion – autumn in the Novi Sad cultural stations will be marked by diverse content. Leading up to the title year when Novi Sad will become the European Capital of culture, thus relying on its main goals, decentralisation of culture and participation of citizens, cultural stations continue to promote culture as a way of life in Novi Sad.
Three concerts and festival of experimental film in Egység and Svilara
The audience will have a chance to attend the concert by the young violinist Uroš Adamović in the Egység Cultural Station on Thursday, 4 November at 6 p.m. With his considerable music experience and exceptional technical skills, the musician is listed as one of the most talented violinists of his generation. Isidora Krmpotić, a young cellist, and Uki Ovaskainen, the famous Finnish pianist, will join his performance of works by Beethoven, Bach, Handel-Halvorsen and Saint-Saëns. The concert has been implemented in cooperation with the Music Youth of Kragujevac.
The audience will have a chance to see the ‘Four Corners of the World’ project in Egység on 9 November at 7 p.m. It is a concert tour by the chamber ensemble Aratos Trio in six cities in Serbia, while the main idea of the project is to present pieces written for clarinet trio from different parts of the world, in order to give the audience a picture of different tendencies in art, styles and ways of using instruments from different cultures, In this regard, the concept of the programme includes works by composers Igor Stravinsky, Gian Carlo Menotti, Isidora Žebeljan, Bright Sheng, Peter Schickele.
The concert by the iconic band Amajlija will be held in Egység on 11 November at 8 p.m., while all fans of the famous Novi Sad band will have a chance to experience the Broadway performance, during the promotion of new songs, love and loyalty for quality music. All interested visitors are obliged to confirm their presence via the Facebook page of Amajlija Novi Sad.
The seventh international festival of experimental films and music videos ‘Experimental Superstars’ will be held in the Svilara Cultural Station on 9 and 10 November. The main idea of the festival is to affirm the experimental film as a very important form for the development of film art, while the main focus will be on silent films, as well as on films that connect sound and picture in an innovative way. Within the festival, including the two competitive selections, the audience will have a chance to enjoy the follow-up programmes, such as film workshop and music programme. The festival begins at 7 p.m., and it has been implemented in cooperation with the organisation Live Soundtrack from Belgrade.
Children’s programme in cultural stations
In the Egység Cultural Station, from 5 until 8 November, the audience will have a chance to see the exhibition of children’s art and literature works submitted to the call ‘Choose Smarter, Eat Smarter’ launched by the Institute of Public Health of Vojvodina. The award ceremony for the most successful works by the children from kindergarten and pupils from primary schools from the territory of Novi Sad on Monday will be organised on 8 November, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m.
In the Mlin Cultural Station, on 8 November at 5:30 p.m., children and their parents will have a chance to attend the promotion of the book ‘Pavle and His Little Case’ by the author Ivana Kobilarov, dedicated to children aged 5 to 8, as well as to pedagogues, parents and educators. The aim of the book is to help children to easily master the writing process in school, in a creative and interesting way. It is envisaged
as the first children’s workbook, while all interested can apply for the programme via e-mail: [email protected].
